Load shedding will be minimized

Power cuts to be progressively minimized with the marginal to high yielding of water that is related tom hydro power generation. In Puri the yesterday the thirties day of this month of July situation was that the morning power cut from eight to nine is there and then no power cut through out the day and this has been due to the fact that for the last seven days there are instances of rain which is now seems to be in good quantity and for the water reservoir of hydro power plant. It is seen that the fixed power cuts has been lifted in some major cities and also district headquarters of the state and in the remaining sub urban areas there are instances of three hours of load shedding. Now in these suburban areas these have been restricted to two hours for the time being. One hour each in the morning and the night. This shortage of power in the evening time is 500MW and with the increasing of water in the reservoirs of Hirakud, Indrabati and Balimela that can be enough to attain the short fall in the deficit parameters of water and the electricity. With the good rain in the vicinity there is also plant to raise the production of electricity to seven hundred MW in the near future. The Jharsuguda power units are expected to be back with grid within short span of time. That will help the state to lift the power cuts even during the evening hours. Most of the power grid is in the western part of the state and in the last few days in these areas there are quite a good amount of rain and for this the power crisis and the improvement in the grid situation and that is helping the state government to amend the load shedding. The water level in Rengali reservoir few days ago has very few waters and from Sunday the water level is on the rise and it is expected to generate more power as the water level is on the rise. The thermal power stations are also not being able to generate more power due to various reasons.

Jumbo was found dead

In Balasore one of the prominent sanctuary namely Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary a tusker was found dead inside and its tusk were missing and is being suspected to be killed four to five days back. Tusk is the hard smooth ivory colored dentine that makes up most of the tusks of elephants and walruses. There seems to be some insider hand to this incident as for it one forest guard is kept under suspicion. The body of the tusker was recovered nearer to a water body about one point five kilometers inside the sanctuary. They are informed by locals and then the officials rushed to this spot. As per the preliminary investigation the elephant is being killed through gun shot. The pachyderm of that of any of various non ruminant hoofed mammals having very thick skin: elephant; rhinoceros; hippopotamus is being removed by poachers immediately after it has been killed by them. At the head of the elephant there is deep injury marks tusk of some weight had been recovered from the spot and that had been sent for autopsy. The tusk was later buried inside the deep forest. One guard has been suspended for negligence and uncaring at this situation and the matter is under investigation and soon the fact finding team will hopefully reach at the conclusion. In one earlier incident at Sambalpur an injured tusker which was found limping near to a village in the Dhama forest range is still to recover fully. It had the wound at the front left knee. The tusker had moved to the hills and for this the advance treatment is not possible for the time being. A special team of forest officers have worked out the plan of treatment and they are going in the right direction. With the puss is in the wound and for this the tusker must be cared in to medical attention immediately. The tusker must have found the wound due to poachers and the rise in poaching in these belt of Odisha is now is a serious cause of concern.

Marginal improvement in power situation

Due to good rain fall in the last two days power curb is slowly erasing with the power cut at noon is being now suspended. The captive generating power plants are now supplying some satisfactory water to suit the needs of electricity. The distribution companies are slowly removing the load shedding in the state of Odisha. The twin cities are now free from load shedding but at Puri it is still from eight to nine in the morning and then at noon from three to four then at evening from six to seven and then at night from ten to eleven. The captive generating power plant has been generating more than eight hundred MW and the hydro power plants are generating more than six hundred MW of electricity. The Balimella hydro station remained idle for more than three months is now generating one hundred fifty MW of electricity. The situation also likely to be improved further with the advent of good day of rains and also there is prediction that more rains to follow. Other two units are scheduled to be lighted on July thirty but due to advance rain both the units are expected to be alive again. Two units of Burla powerhouses are down due to technical snag.  Second unit is not operative due to heavy leakages of water and the third unit is not operating due to accumulation of trash. There was the cleaning process going on but it is been suspended due to the leakages of rain water and heavy rain in and around the city during these times. Earlier the hydro power project at the upper Kolab has been suspended due to the inadequate water shortages. Water level at the Rengali barrage is also worsened during that time. During those times the one of the private plant has seen the out rage and that worsened the condition further to maxim. From that private plant state is being benefitted with one hundred and twenty MW. From the eastern region due to the closure of three plants the share of the State reduced drastically and for this the power situation has become worse than ever.
